Mayors actions spark mass resignation from Magnetawan fire department

MAGNETAWAN – Volunteer firefighters in the Municipality of Magnetawan have resigned en mass from the department.
Magnetawan Volunteer Fire Department chief Dave Pringle is among more than a dozen firefighters who turned in their pagers. As of today they are no longer responding to emergency calls.
“I’ve thrown in the towel. I won’t be back. There’s been too much go on here that shouldn’t have. . . . I’ve had enough,” said Pringle.
Fire chiefs for the Magnetawan and Ahmic Harbour stations, Alan Fraser and Jack Crossman respectively, have also resigned.
Pringle says he has fulfilled his obligation to inform the department’s mutual aid partners and the Office of the Fire Marshall about the situation.
“From what I understand and what I know there are only three firefighters that have not resigned,” said Pringle.
